Job Summary:
This position is a Plastic Injection Processor responsible for following procedures and processes for the production of plastic injection-molded parts.
Reporting:
The Plastic Injection Processor reports to the Production Manager.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Conduct mold changes, install/remove molds, and set up related equipment (robots, conveyors, secondary stations) when required.
- Set up, start up, and operate injection molding machines according to established process parameters and work instructions.
- Load material into hoppers/dryers, verify correct resin and colorant, and ensure proper drying and material handling.
- Perform first-piece and in-process quality checks (visual, dimensional, and functional as required).
- Communicate effectively with quality, maintenance, and supervision regarding process issues, downtime, or material problems.
- Monitor and adjust process variables (temperatures, pressures, speeds, times, cushion, etc.) to maintain consistent part quality and cycle efficiency.
- Identify and troubleshoot common molding defects (flash, short shots, sink marks, warpage, splay, burns, etc.) and make process adjustments or escalate as needed.
- Perform basic machine and mold maintenance (cleaning, lubrication, checking water lines, sensors, and safety interlocks).
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- 1 year experience.
- Experience with sit-down forklifts, pallet jacks, and electric pallet jacks.
- Ability to lift 75 pounds.
- Attention to detail concerning processes and procedures, housekeeping, and record keeping.
- Diligently attend to details and pursue quality in accomplishing tasks.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
- Strong work ethic, self-motivated, and results-driven.
- Proactively promotes safety.
- Bilingual in Spanish and English a plus.
Measures of Success:
- Machine specifications are well maintained.
- Production runs are maintained within quality specs.
- Production samples are regularly checked and compared to blueprints and tolerances measured.
Hours:
Monday - Friday / 7:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m.
